NMDOG Public Hiatus Announcement

After thoughtful consideration & lots of internal discussion, the NMDOG Board of Directors has determined it to be in the best interest of the org & those that we serve, to implement an official six month “Public Hiatus” status on all external business. This basically means we will not be accessible for new requests for assistance through the end of the year.

Why did we come to this decision?

It is a critical time in Animal Welfare & we want to ensure continued sustainability, longevity, efficacy & service from NMDOG, for many more years to come. Since our inception in 2010, NMDOG, as an All Volunteer non-profit, has never taken a “break”. Instead, we have forged on with #FierceDetermination literally 24/7/365 for the past 14 years. We must step back at this time & focus internally in order to continue to meet our goals & the ongoing needs of our community.

What NMDOG won’t be doing during this time
Dog intakes or adoptions – all of our adoptable Dogs have been placed
Housing Dogs for other groups
Field work
Responding to most emails, social media messages & other points of contact – there will, instead, be an auto reply generated full of useful resources & answers to FAQs
Taking on new Outreach clients
Public events &/or appearances

What NMDOG will be doing during this time
Providing for the 14 Kiddos currently in the NMDOG #HomeSanctuary Program & their HS Care Providers
Keeping our Promise to all of our #adopted Dogs = “Once an NMDOG, always an NMDOG” = we will ALWAYS be there for our own!
Housing NMDOG Alumni &/or Home Sanctuary Dogs as needed
Internal restructure of the NMDOG Board of Directors, Mission Statement & Bylaws
Complete overhaul of the NMDOG website (which will be placed on “Under Construction” status during the hiatus)
Transition to NMDOG payroll & the hiring of a Social Media Assistant & NMDOG Fencing Assistance Program Manager (so we can continue building fences for Chained Dogs)
Development of the NMDOG Humane Education Program
Expansion of the NMDOG Outreach Program
NMDOG Statewide FREE STRAW Program for its 13th annual season
Continued work on the statewide Missy Trap project in partnership with CMM Lost Pet Recovery
NMDOG succession planning, NMDOG 3 year business plan & our long-term Legislative goals
Fundraising to support our ongoing work & the Dogs currently in the NMDOG Home Sanctuary Program = Online Auction in Oct, Giving Tuesday campaign in November & End of the Year campaign in December
Social Media posting as time allows to include statewide resources, Home Sanctuary Kiddo #pupdates & MORE!
