CASEY JONES rests after a very long ordeal.

CASEY JONES rests after a very long ordeal.

Last year, NMDOG was invited by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department & Bernalillo County Animal Care Services to join them in their FIGHT against animal cruelty. A partnership was formed & NMDOG is now part of the Bernalillo County Animal Cruelty Task Force. Since the formation of the Task Force, 100’s of citations & violations have been issued, an upwards of 50 arrests have been made, numerous animals have been seized & have found better lives & countless more have had their lives improved greatly by our outreach.

In March 2013, we were out in force in Albuquerque’s South Valley. Here are our numbers: 45 house contacts, 3 animal care related arrests, 6 unrelated arrests, 80 citations were issued, 3 dogs & 7 puppies were seized. NMDOG took immediate custody of two of these dogs, one of whom was too sick to be saved.  We let her leave this world, free from pain. RIP sweet BLANCA….WE loved you!

CASEY JONES was the other dog seized during this sweep. He was left neglected & severely matted in a small, dirty pen…never knowing a kind word or gentle touch, for years…who knows how long. We determine him to be approximately four years old & a Llhasa Apso Mix, intact. CASEY JONES was immediately taken into NMDOG custody & rushed to the vet. It took two separate shavings with sedation to remove the severely matted 2.4 lbs of fur & dirt. He has received the immediate medical care he needed, antibiotics & fluids, nutritious food & a good bath. We will neuter him when he feels better.

CASEY now weighs 12 lbs. He has been in the care of one of our amazing techs from the clinic & is doing quite well. CASEY JONES will take some gentle, loving time before we begin to see his true personality….but for now, he is finally able to just relax. He will learn to trust at his own pace.

You can help us carry on our ability to be a part of this important Mission by making a tax deductible donation or by calling Good Shepherd Animal Clinic (505)884-3200 & making a contribution directly to the NMDOG account for CASEY JONES. You can also mail in a donation to the address below & we are asking that any care packages be addressed to:

CASEY JONES would appreciate a mild assortment of light summer shirts to keep him from getting sunburned, a harness, leash & collar, soft fluffy toys to call his own, & he loves special grain free treats!

NMDOG is working closely with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and Bernalillo County Animal Control Services on all charges filed against CASEYS former guardian. Charges have also been filed against BLANCAS former guardian…we hope to see some justice for her suffering & her death. Neither one of these dogs got into the condition they were in overnight…it took months, years. Maybe if someone had said something sooner about BLANCA….to SOMEone, she could have been saved. We are grateful we are able to help CASEY JONES know a brand new life. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING! Over 90% of all cruelty cases come from reports by neighbors, friends, families, social workers, service providers, & concerned citizens. It is important for us ALL to be their voice!

We are THANKFUL for all the NMDOG Village does to support us in our fight for THEM!! Without you, we are nothing. Please donate if you can! We will be out on the frontlines! WooF!
